Below the surface dream, shallow and light, Of what we say "we feel" - below the stream, As light, of what we think "we feel" - there flows With noisless current strong, obscure and deep, The central stream of what we feel indeed. - Matthew Arnold.

The Immaculate Conception

The Immaculate Conception
Oil on canvass 64x55cm

For me an idea of the Immaculate Conception is easily associated with the concept of creation and creativity. To explain my notion of creativity, I use the image of a young woman immersed whole-heartedly in a universally understandable act of planting, i.e. giving life, creating. While the delicate young shoots are prominent, her hands are slightly blurred, - the medium, the tools are not important. She is alone and happy, she doesn’t need anybody which facts are brought home both by a gentle smile highlighting her contended face and the glowing colors of the pictures’ rich-textured, almost tangible background.
Creation is a lonely road!
